Custom Animations

In addition to the 14 theme animations, the XAML UI Framework contains seven animation classes that enable you to describe your own custom animations and apply them the same way that the theme animations are applied.

The seven custom animation classes cover four possible data types that can be animated: double, Point, Color, and object. If you want to vary the value of a double property over time (such as Width, Height, Opacity, Canvas.Left, and so on), you can use an instance of DoubleAnimation. If you instead want to vary the value of a Point property over time (such as a LinearGradientBrush’s StartPoint or EndPoint property), you can use an instance of PointAnimation.
