Supporting a Free Trial

If you choose a price tier other than “Free” for your app in the Windows Store, then you may optionally choose to offer a free trial. This can be tremendously helpful for selling more copies of your app, and Microsoft recommends it. Although ratings, reviews, and screenshots in the Windows Store can help convince some of your potential customers to make a purchase, many more people likely want to have additional reassurance before spending money on your app. A good trial experience in a good app can provide just that.

The Windows Dev Center dashboard gives you two types of free trials to choose from: time-based trials and unlimited (therefore, feature-differentiated) trials.
