I eagerly turn the page of my cognitive psychology textbook. I get to the section on multiple intelligences, and a surge of excitement shoots through me. This is amazing! This is exactly what I want to be studying! I flip back to the inside cover and see “Robert J. Sternberg, Yale University.” I immediately remember the time in high school I told the SAT prep director I wanted to go to Yale. He didn’t seem to think it was too realistic back then. Has anything changed? Is the dream still possible?
A few days later I meet with the professor of my cognitive psychology class, Anne Fay. “So, I love this class. I think I found my calling,” I tell her. She thanks me and encourages me to continue in the field. ...
