Moods, emotions, and encounters under water are best conveyed in wide-angle photographs. When you first glance at a wide-angle photo, you can tell if it was taken at night or during the day, whether the water was clear, and maybe even the approximate depth at which the photo was taken.

The exceptionally broad angle of view that wide-angle lenses offer makes it a challenge to avoid including distracting elements, such as other divers, in the backgrounds of your pictures.
