Glossary

Bandwidth   A term used to describe how much data traffic (usually in bits per second – bps) can be carried down a wire in a network or the Internet. A bandwidth of 10 Mbps (megabits (million bits) per second) is faster than 56 Kbps (kilobits (thousand bits) per second).

Bridge   A device which moves data depending on the MAC address of the data. Bridges are simple to setup but can produce inefficient networks.

Browser (1)   A browser is a software program that allows a user to access a Web server

Browser (2)   A browser (Microsoft's Windows network browser) which allows the user to see all computers on a network. It is called Network Neighborhood.
