1.3 Methods of Information Transmission

There are many different network protocols and several protocols can be available even on a single layer. Especially with lower-layer protocols, we distinguish between the types of transmission that they facilitate, whether they provide connection-oriented or connection-less services, if the protocol uses virtual circuits, and so on.
