Options, Bonds, Cash, Real Estate, Currencies, IPOs, and Futures

When most people talk about the stock market, they are referring to buying or selling stocks, mutual funds, or ETFs. There are, however, a number of other investments besides individual stocks. Becoming familiar with other types of investments—for example, options, bonds, cash, real estate, currencies, IPOs, and futures—will help make you a more knowledgeable investor.

Suggestion: You will find that these alternative investments can get technical at times. Therefore, feel free to skip this chapter for now and continue to Chapter 16. You can always return to this chapter in the future.
