Chapter 20. Introduction

The purpose of Part III is to introduce the concepts and issues associated with the deployment of large-scale PKIs. Note that this part of the book is not intended to be a step-by-step deployment handbook. Part III is deliberately small; more specific deployment details could easily be the topic of an entire book. The idea is to familiarize the reader with the basic issues likely to be encountered when deploying a large-scale PKI in the enterprise domain. (Although the focus of this material is directed toward the enterprise, many of these issues also apply to the Internet domain.)
