Part I of this book has considered the many aspects of PKI. The treatment has been intentionally generic, in the sense that every attempt has been made to avoid references to specific vendor interpretations or product implementations of any particular topic. Instead, the focus of the discussion has been to introduce concepts, explain terminology, highlight issues, and discuss the benefits of this technology, all as an aid to understanding this subject area.
