Other Information Sources

There are many information sources that can be quite useful to Oracle Clinical developers. Not all of the following sources are specific to OC, but I have included a selection of the most useful and most commonly overlooked ones.

OCUG

OCUG, the Oracle Clinical User's Group, is an invaluable resource for developers. The group includes members from the pharmaceutical industry, CROs, and companies that do consulting work or make compatible software for Oracle Clinical users. The group has several focus groups, which usually hold monthly teleconferences. The user group is independent from Oracle, but Oracle's employees can be honorary members. Oracle has a large presence at the conferences and focus groups, mainly from the program managers, developers, and consultants. Oracle frequently prioritizes many enhancements and noncritical bug fixes based on input from OCUG.

Ongoing discussions on the OCUG web site (www.ocug.intranets.com) enable you to ask or answer questions at any time. As with any user group, the advice and presentations are only as good as the contributors make it. Membership is not free; however, both individual and company membership terms are available.

The annual OCUG conference provides an excellent place to discover how other companies are organized around OC functions, such as global librarians, and how they deal with current issues such as site support. You can also discover some information about customizations of OC such as page tracking ...
