The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), www.smpte.org, exists to advance the engineering and technical aspects of the motion picture, television, and allied arts and sciences. This is accomplished through the dissemination of scientific information, education, and the publication of standards that further the interests of the general public in these arenas.
