15.6. The Memory Model

You can now look at all of these memory areas together to see how they are related. Within each instance you can create more than one database, so for every active database there will be a database shared memory area that is allocated in memory.

For every application connected to a multi-partition database, or one configured either with intra-partition parallelism and/or using the connection concentrator, there will be an area of application shared memory allocated in memory. In addition, each DB2 agent process will have its own private memory area, as seen in Figure 15.6.
