Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course on understanding ac circuits, you should be able to do the following:

1. Understand the following basic ac electronics concepts:

a. Single-phase ac

b. Three-phase ac

c. Electromagnetic induction

d. AC sine wave voltage.

2. Use a VOM or oscilloscope to measure ac quantifies.

3. Solve basic electronics problems with ac circuits that involve capacitance, inductance, impedance, reactance, resistance, and power calculations.

4. Explain the operation of transformers in ac circuits.

5. Describe the operation of frequency-sensitive filter circuits and resonant circuits.

6. Construct experimental ac circuits using schematics and perform tests and measurements with a multimeter and signal generator.
