IG is made up of the following interrelated concepts:

  • Email archiving

  • eDiscovery

  • Compliance

  • Federated Records Management (FRM)

Email archiving generally refers to applications that copy or remove email from the mail server and manage it in a central location known as an archive.[] Information technology professionals use the term archiving to mean the copying or transfer of files for storage.
