11.5. Social Implications of Information Governance

After the housing/mortgage bubble burst in 2008, there is a greater drive to change the way businesses and governments operate. The drive is toward greater transparency, accountability, authenticity, and reliability. In fact, ARMA International, a not-for-profit, professional association and an authority on managing records and information, has developed a set of Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principlessm (GARP sm)[] as a reflection of today's needs.
