12.2. Investing in Sustainability

Many sustainability projects require an up-front investment of some sort. For the most part, these aren't huge investments. However, when we're going through an economic recession, and when companies are worried about what their revenue streams will look like over the next year or so, it's often hard to begin spending money on sustainability initiatives, especially if companies aren't feeling pressure to invest right now. This is certainly a realistic position that you have to consider. But in my opinion, it's a bit short-sighted.
