3.1. Identifying Business Requirements

First, any company has a set of business objectives that they have established to help ensure the viability and growth of the enterprise. These are determined by executive management with oversight from the Board of Directors and then communicated downward into the organization. These objectives reflect the corporation's overall mission statement and are used to guide or direct employee behavior and decisions toward meeting the objectives.
