Corporate governance of all kinds is particularly challenging in today's environment. Increased globalization has introduced complexity across all industries.

For example, each country has a multitude of government agencies and business associations issuing mandatory or strongly recommended regulations for conducting business within its borders. Failure to comply exposes a corporation to economic sanctions that may jeopardize its ability to compete in the local market. This problem would be severe enough if it were only an issue of multiple regulations across countries. But when these regulations actually conflict with each other, as they sometimes do, the complexity can become daunting.
