12.4. Carbon Trading Is Coming
All companies need to pay attention to issues related to carbon. Carbon trading/taxation and carbon penalties are coming and may already be in place when you read this. Dealing with these new issues will require a great deal of governance.
As of July 2009, the proposed American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009[] (H.R. 2454) would establish an economy-wide cap-and-trade program and create other incentives and standards for increasing energy efficiency and low-carbon energy consumption.
