Chapter 6

External Insulation Characteristics and Insulation Coordination of UHV Transmission System

Chapter 6 analyzes the insulating properties and insulation coordination methods of UHV transmission lines, substations, and converter stations, calculates and determines the main air gap and insulator selection for UHV power transmission, and studies the insulation coordination principles and main parameters of UHV AC/DC equipment, which can significantly reduce the dimensions of UHV pole tower and equipment and effectively control construction costs and difficulty in equipment research and development.
