Chapter 4. Registries and Web Services Lifecycle

In Chapter 3, we describe the Web services phenomenon. The paradigm defined by Web services, in which several Internet services interact together to accomplish a task or process, highlights the need for business registries. Business registries, as we learned in Chapter 2, act as a collection point and a discovery platform. Business registries in the Web services paradigm house Web services and make them available for browsing and searching by other applications or processes. Figure 4.1 depicts the Web services world with business registries at its core.
