I love hating the letters, loving them, betraying them, or being loyal to them. It’s a toy store.

Q. What value do you place on typographic fundamentals, traditions, and forms?

The typographic fundamentals are, for me, very important—and not important at the same time. I stay true to tradition and betray it, depending on what I want to achieve. When I am inventing in my playground, I write my own rules. Maybe I am influenced by tradition, but I understand that I have to write my own rules so that I can build my own world to escape from banality or to escape from dos and don’ts.

Q. What do you look at for inspiration?

My inspiration comes from a variety of fields, such as archaeology, technology, architecture, ...
