Readability

A typeface is legible when each individual letter is recognizable without too much guesswork. Readability, however, deals with how easy one reads words, phrases, and blocks of text found in books, magazines, newspapers, and websites, or electronic books found on the Kindle or iPad. Some fonts are exceptionally readable in print, but do not work so well in digital environments. The serif Georgia and sans serif Verdana, both designed by Matthew Carter, are two examples of fonts designed specifically for digital display.
