I hear a soft buzz as the alarm clock blinks 5:45 a.m., and beckons me to leap from bed. I walk clumsily to the kitchen and stare at logotypes that distinguish one breakfast-food package from another, with Helvetica cleanly stating the nutritional information on the side panel of each box. I spot one with high fiber, which measures 25 percent or more of the daily value, and grab the skim milk from the refrigerator. After breakfast, I look at my smart phone to check the first appointment and then get dressed.
I enter my car and start the engine to see the gas gauge measuring a tad above “E.” I dial through the music listed ...
