Scenic construction

Most television settings are devised by connecting together a series of more or less standard component parts. In this chapter we shall look at how these units are made and what they can do.

Curved cyclorama. A shallow Cshaped hung cloth background, used on large staging areas, to produce a spacious or panoramic effect.

Wrapround cyclorama. Form of eye widely used in TV, video and photographic studios. Corners should be gently curved (e.g. 9ft or 2.7 m radius minimum).
