Foolish Assumptions
As with all books, a writer must make some assumptions about her readers so that the book can provide a consistent level of information. As such, this book assumes you know some basic technology including how to use a computer and browse the Internet. This book further presumes that you understand how to use a basic text editor to select text and modify its properties.
Beyond that, some basic understanding of HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) would be great, but it’s not necessary. You should know, however, about the following web-related topics:
Web graphics: It will be helpful for you to know how to create your own web graphics should you want to include any on your Tumblr blog. Creating graphics is quite easy, and there are several free services online that you can use to convert pictures downloaded from your digital camera or cell phone into web-friendly optimized graphics in the JPG, PNG, or GIF format.
Audio files: Currently you can only share MP3 files on Tumblr, so knowing a little about this file format will help you with adding your own sound files into your posts.
