16. Developing Team Members

This chapter reviews the principal issues you will face when working with, guiding, and developing the members of your team. An effective way to maximize the performance of any team is to ensure that all of its members are assigned to tasks that suit their personal interests and capabilities. When negotiating these assignments with the team, however, recognize that most people are capable of doing far more challenging work than they are currently doing. A key part of your leadership responsibilities is keeping your people challenged with assignments that utilize their capabilities and hone their skills.
