This chapter discusses the TSP roles. The objective is to provide the background you need to guide a team in role selection and to help the team members handle their role responsibilities. The book TSPSM—Leading a Development Team contains a more detailed discussion of the specific objectives and responsibilities of the TSP roles (Humphrey 2006). This chapter describes why the TSP roles are needed, the role-selection process, and some suggestions about coaching the role managers.
