Multiple Smart Cards

Different smart cards can be used for different purposes, so more than one smart card may be presented to a platform during a single work session. The need to use multiple smart cards may benefit from a TP because:

  • A TPM can protect (and the TP can use) session authorization information on behalf of cards, while another card is connected to the platform

  • A TPM can protect (and the TP can use) authorization data to automatically activate cards

  • A smart card can transfer credits to a TPM, for use by the TPM on behalf of other cards when they are connected to the platform.
