State migration point

The state migration point is another widely-used role in Configuration Manager, and in some organizations there could be one on each distribution point, so it is worth knowing where to look if this role goes wrong in any way. In very basic terms, this role is essentially a holding area for user profiles and data that has been captured from machines while they are being rebuilt. Once the machine has been rebuilt, the data is copied back down to the machine from the state migration point.
