ENCs and Hiera are external tools that are used to manipulate the classes and the data that get applied to your nodes. Knowing how these tools work can help a lot when debugging. Knowing how your nodes are receiving classes makes it a lot simpler to remove classes that are causing problems. In the next chapter, we'll look at MCollective, a tool that is used to interact with nodes in real time.
