Abstract:

This chapter focuses on tribology in manufacturing processes from the viewpoint of understanding the fundamentals of sliding friction in those processes and the use of lubricants to control friction in manufacturing processes such as machining, drawing, rolling, extrusion, abrasive processes and processing at the micro and nanoscales. It is assumed that this chapter will serve as a focal point for engineers who are concerned with the role of tribology to maximize productivity and reduce costs associated with manufacturing processes under their command.
