Conceptualization

Current training in professional psychology programs is linked to many skills required for leadership development, yet students and faculty might not consider this connection. There are already existing training models in business, management, and psychology that focus specifically on leadership development and the workplace, but without the clinical training. For instance, industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology, which is discussed in Chapter 3, applies psychological principles, theories, and models to workplace issues.
