Developing and Managing Project Strategy

Though projects are important in drug development, there is such a high rate of attrition—particularly pre-Stage 3—that spending too much time detailing long-term project strategy is not considered to be useful in the division. However, it is still essential to develop and maintain a flexible strategy for the success of the project. This is aligned with the portfolio strategy and can be revised as a project progresses; indeed, exit strategy is an important element of total project strategy.
