An ECM Stores Content, Not Users
The primary purpose of a content management system is to store content, not users. This means that if your content management system requires you to migrate user names, passwords, and access rights into a content repository, then you have less than a pragmatic ECM solution. Integrations with the latest identity management systems should be seamless, and should never mandate that you store user information twice.
In practice, this usually means a tight integration with Active Directory, or an equivalent LDAP-based authentication server.
