Maggie Taylor (b. 1961) received her MFA at the University of Florida (1987), where she studied with Jerry Uelsmann, whom she later married. Taylor treads the divide between analog and digital image-building. In 1996, after more than ten years as a still-life photographer, Taylor began using a flatbed scanner instead of a camera as the basis for creating surrealistic montages with romantic underpinnings. Her initial inspiration for this work was Darryl Curran’s large scanograms of items that belonged to his late wife, Doris.
