And even though most of his teammates ignored him, the injured nobody, he cheered them on and encouraged them when they made a great play—even the other rookie who might make the team instead of him. He figured that no one could possibly know his situation, and for all he knew other players were dealing with their own challenges as well. Each player wanted to make the team as much as he did, and Martin, always the leader, shared the positive energy with anyone who would receive it. He wanted his team to do well. He also just wanted one more shot for himself. Just one shot to show that he had what it took to make it in the big time. After tomorrow night's game he would know whether this shot would be granted.
