Training Style Inventory

Developed by Richard Brostrom, this instrument categorizes a trainer's style according to the trainers basic assumptions and their alignment with major training-learning theories (see sidebar on the next page). Increasingly, Brostrom says, he sees trainers taking an eclectic “field approach.” For a given training content, a trainer starts with a theoretical focus and concentrates on its corresponding ways of delivering training, but also puts the “content in context” by bringing in training methodologies associated with other theories.
