Summary

This chapter can be looked at as the last in a three-part series. Chapter 3 covered information distribution. Chapter 4 covered path calculation and setup. This chapter covered forwarding traffic down a tunnel.

If you finished all three of these chapters, you have a good idea of how MPLS TE works. In fact, if you combine the information in Chapters 3, 4 and 5 with the introductory material in Chapters 1 and 2, you have enough information to start configuring and deploying MPLS TE in your network.

The next things to look at are some advanced features of MPLS and MPLS TE—Quality of Service with MPLS TE (Chapter 6), Protection and Restoration (Chapter 7), and MPLS TE Management (Chapter 8).
