About the Author

Russell Rhoads, CFA, is an instructor with The Options Institute at the Chicago Board Options Exchange. He joined the Institute in 2009 after a career as an investment analyst and trader with a variety of firms. He also is a financial author and editor, having contributed to Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities magazine and edited several books for John Wiley and Sons. In 2008 he wrote Candlestick Charting for Dummies and in 2010 authored Option Spread Trading. He is a double graduate of the University of Memphis with a BBA (1992) and an MS (1994) in Finance and also received a Master's Certificate in Financial Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2003. Also, he instructs a graduate-level options course at the University of Illinois–Chicago and an undergraduate-level derivatives class at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI.

Russell lives in Hinsdale, Illinois, with his wife, Merribeth, and their two daughters, Emmy and Maggie. In addition to his job and writing books, he serves on the Board of Education for Community Consolidated School District 181, which covers five suburban Chicago communities.
