This book is about a new idea—incorporating the power of multiplayer games in the redesign of work, making work more engaging and making workers more productive. The proposals that follow originated in exciting new research about how games work, and business literature about important new challenges as work is redefined in an electronic age of global competition and an uncertain economy.

The most important source of the ideas, however, emerged in conversations we have enjoyed between ourselves and many others over the past 6 years.
