A5.4 Test If the Averages Are Significantly Different for the Two Groups

The t-test of the difference between group means compares the averages of two groups and reports the probability that the averages are from the same population. If the probability (p value) is less than 0.05, the averages of the two groups are significantly different for the item. To test for a significant difference between group means, we selected “Tools,” “Data Analysis,” and “T-Test: Two Sample for Means,” and entered the ranges for our two groups. For example, with item 4.1 (column S) the range was S2:S31 for the target market and S32:S151 for others.
