A4.2 Define Seating Capacity as the Proxy for Volume of Items

The survey of JetSpray customers (Figure 5) elicited the purchase volume of JetSprays with item S-2 (column C) for two-passenger models and item S-3 (column D) for three-passenger models. We defined seating capacity as two for each two-passenger model and as three for each three-passenger model. To calculate seating capacity for the first respondent, we clicked on cell BK2 and entered “=(C2*2)+(D2*3).” Then we calculated the seating capacity for the other respondents by copying and pasting this formula to BK3 through BK151.
