Unity in Actions

During a series of in-depth interviews, all TMT members talked about several aspects of their relationship with middle managers. First, they mentioned the importance of TMT unity in actions toward middle managers. For example, the president noted the importance of consistency in action among TMT members: “Everyone should do the same things in every situation. Otherwise, if you don’t operate as a team, middle managers play off the TMT members against each other.”

Along the same line, the vice president pointed out, “If your employees get the impression that if you say ‘turn left,’ it can easily be ‘right,’ because another TMT member might say that, your decisions will not be readily implemented.” ...
