Things to Avoid

1. Inappropriate Dress

All religious places require visitors to dress suitably; shorts and bare shoulders are not acceptable. Head-coverings are usually provided at religious sites. Wearing inappropriate clothing is considered disrespectful, and will result in entrance being denied. Also dress modestly when visiting Islamic and Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods.

2. Israeli Passport Stamp

An Israeli stamp in your passport will bar you from entering most Arab countries, notably Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan. To avoid this, ask the officer at passport control not to stamp your passport. Make the same request on exiting. At land borders, you may have to fill in a form, which is then stamped with the visa.
