MEDIAN
The median is the midpoint average for a range of values. Fifty percent of the values are above the midpoint, and 50 percent are below it.
The following equations show the common formulas for the median.
For an odd number of values:
median = the middle value.
- For an even number of values:
median = (summed values of the two middle values)/2.
The benefits of the median are that it is easy to calculate. It is also not affected by extreme values. However, the downside is that it requires preparing the data before calculating it.
