Some marketing claims will tout almost anything on the Internet as being “in the cloud.” Marketers call services such as web hosting “cloud-based.” Others say they are already in the cloud because their internal data center uses virtualization technologies. But for the cloud to live up to its hype, it has to be more than existing technologies (or the Internet itself) rebranded. Like many analysts who are publishing models in an attempt to cut through the noise, we believe there is much more to the cloud.
