Chapter 2Configuring tmux

tmux, by default, doesn’t have the most friendly commands. Many of the most important and useful features are assigned to hard-to-reach keystrokes or consist of long, verbose command strings. And tmux’s default color scheme isn’t very easy on the eyes. In this chapter, we’re going to build a basic configuration file for our tmux installation that we’ll then use for the rest of this book. We’ll start out by customizing how we navigate around the screen and how we create and resize panes, and then we’ll discuss how we can tackle some more advanced settings.
