tmux, by default, doesn’t have the most friendly commands. Many of the most important and useful features are assigned to hard-to-reach keystrokes or consist of long, verbose command strings. And tmux’s default color scheme isn’t very easy on the eyes. In this chapter, you’ll build a basic configuration file for your environment that you’ll then use for the rest of this book. You’ll start out by customizing how you navigate around the screen and how you create and resize panes, and then you’ll explore some more advanced settings.
