Although a daily to-do list helps you administer short-term action items, there are three additional categories of to-do lists that help you capture and manage business and personal longer-term tasks, goals, dreams, commitments and projects. They are:

Monthly To-Do List

The monthly to-do list is the perfect place to write down objectives that are not urgent, but that are important and contain multiple steps. For example, let’s say it’s February and you want to “update finances.” Though not a specific action item itself, there are lots of related one-step tasks this generates that you could put in your weekly or daily schedule, including:

• Make an appointment with the attorney to revise your will.

• Call your stockbroker ...
